07 Jan Branding Strategy Booklist
#1 “Creative Strategy and the Business of Design”, Douglas Davis, 2016
This book is amazing and I am using it today! I love all the frameworks and you can easily use them as is in your branding workshops with clients. It also gave me a lot of clarity on business language. You can find the book here.
#2 “Archetypes in Branding: A Toolkit for Creatives and Strategists” by Joshua C. Chen and Margaret Hartwell
Awesome book with 60 brand archetypes explained. The best part is the cards that you can take out and use during strategy workshops. You can find it here.
#3 “Building a Story Brand” Donald Miller
I think it’s an essential read to learn about telling a brand story in a way that sells. This book is also a good read in the marketing category. It follows a very simple framework that everyone can apply to their business. You can find it here.
#4 “The Brand Flip” Marty Neumeier
101 about branding! You don’t need all the books from Marty Neumeier but it is worth reading at least one. You can find it here.
#5 “The Brand Gap” Marty Neumeier
Same as above, just pick one! You can find it here.
#6 “Rework” Jason Fried & David Heinemeier Hansson
Very easy and fun to read a book for every business owner. It shows you that you need less than you think to run a successful business. You can find it here.
#7 “The E-Myth Revisited: Why Most Small Businesses Don’t Work and What to Do About It”, Michael E. Gerber
Eye-opening book on how to structure and build a business instead of working in the business. It helped me to transition from a freelancer to a business owner. You can find it here.
#8 “Playing to Win: How Strategy Really Works”
I suggest this book if you would like to dive deeper into the topic of strategy and check real case studies of big brands. You can find the book here.
